8 Waterfront Restaurants and Cafes in Singapore!
July 02, 2022
Love chilling by the waters but hate getting sandy at the beach? Well, here’s a mini list of alternatives that will give you the chance to revel in your main character vibes and romanticise your life. Or, if you’re just looking for a peaceful spot to relax and get away, these places will be a treat — for both your eyes and tummy!
Stella Seaside Lounge
Located down a pathway at the NSRCC Sea Sports Centre is Stella Seaside Lounge. Expect to be greeted by a completely unobstructed view of the sea as you step into this huge outdoor dining space. Coconut trees swaying in the sea breeze, fairy lights all over — I can only imagine how beautiful it would be at night.
Stella Seaside Lounge only has outdoor seating available, though I think you’ll get the best view if you snag a table just beside the waters at the outdoor deck. Dig into their tender Birria Beef Tacos ($22) that comes packed with slow cooked Beef Short Ribs stuffed in a crisp pan fried Corn Tortilla. After, wash it all down with one of the beverages from their extensive drinks menu.
Remember to make a reservation to avoid being met with disappointment, especially if you want to soak up some good vibes while the sun sets!

PS.Cafe at East Coast Park
You’ve probably heard of PS.Cafe but do you know that their outlet in East Coast Park lets you indulge in their ever popular Double Chocolate Blackout Cake or a classic Steak Sandwich while overlooking the sea? Wow, the ultimate dream. This PS.Cafe retains the classic black and white colonial designs, but with lush greenery surrounding the entire cafe. Their al fresco area boasts more of a sea view, while it’s slightly dimmer and less of a dining-in-the-park vibe indoors.
Besides offering the regular menu items found across all outlets, this PS.Cafe also serves up some specials that include the PS Steak Sandwich ($32), Lemongrass Mussel & Clam Spaghetti ($29.50) and a Simply Seared Barramundi ($32). I found myself thoroughly enjoying the Steak Sandwich that came with a side of Shoestring Fries.
I know I will be back for brunch or a nice dinner followed by a stroll along the waters.

Sea Scent at Keppel Club
Seaside restaurants make me want to dive into some good seafood. I had a Pot of Mussels cooked in White Wine ($22.90) that comes with a side of fluffy yet crisp Garlic Bread. Diners can also opt for a Lemon Butter Cream sauce for their mussels and a side of Shoestring Fries instead of bread as well.
While Sea Scent offers both indoor and outdoor dining areas, I’d just go straight for the seats outside for the priceless view of the sea extending into the skies. This restaurant is tucked away in the corner of the swimming pool annexe of Keppel Club, so I would imagine it to be the go-to spot for golfers after a golfing session on the weekends.

Ku-Kai Izakaya
Looking to enjoy the sunset by the waters while tucking into an icy cold beer and some bites? Ku-Kai Izakaya is the place to be! Most diners here opt for the al fresco dining option for the feels but indoor seating is always available for those who would rather be in the comfort of air-conditioning. They boast a wide variety of food items — from Seafood Okonomiyaki ($19) to the classic Kushiyaki Omakase Skewer Set ($22/$30). On top of that, they also serve various types of drinks including alcohol, of course.
Despite being rather inaccessible via public transport, this hidden gem is perfect for any occasion : a post-work chill session, a family meal, or even a romantic evening date. Due to their limited seating, I would recommend making a reservation before heading down!

The Seagrill
Come by for a meal or a drink (or two) at The Seagrill as you watch planes fly by before they land at Changi Airport. Located along Changi Beach, The Seagrill serves up Western food including pastas and sandwiches. They also boast a variety of platters for sharing! While the ambience here gave me chill bar vibes, this place is perfect for family outings too. Especially with the restaurant just overlooking the beach, kids will definitely enjoy their time here.
They also have a High Tea special that they offer daily from 3-5pm, starting at $18++ per pax(minimum of 2 pax)! Dig into a wide selection of freshly made brownies, scones, smoked salmon sandwiches and more.

Whisk & Paddle
From brunch items, to pasta, to mains, to pizzas — you name it, Whisk & Paddle has it. For my Sengkang and Punggol pals, this is for you. Indulge in their creamy, cheesy, gooey Prawns Mac N Cheese ($22.80) which has hints of mentaiko, and wash it down with a special Whisk Berries Gem Teapot ($7.90). They also offer a wide variety of pizzas for sharing, and even icy cold beers if you’re looking for a quick pit stop during your exercise!
While this cafe is just beside the reservoir, I do have to put it out there that, unfortunately, most of the view is now blocked by greenery. This is still, nonetheless, a great place for a weekend brunch!

Georges By The Bay
The Punggol Settlement is a two-storey building overlooking the Johor Straits. It houses a myriad of food establishments including Georges by the Bay, Siam Square Mookata and White Restaurant. If you’re willing to splurge a little more, there’s also House of Seafood on the first floor to satisfy your Chilli Crab cravings.
In the corner of the second floor is Georges by the Bay that offers a wide drinks menu including Beers and Cocktails. They also serve up some bites like their signature Georges Wings and Chicken Quesadillas ($16.90).
I’d think with so many food options available at The Punggol Settlement, this would be a great dinner spot to end the night after a day of cycling at the nearby Coney Island. However, if sea views are a must for you, I’d say to dine on level 1 where the view is largely unobstructed by trees.

Indulge in The Lobster Burger ($79.95) that comes with a whole de-shelled Lobster, portobello mushroom, and melted cheddar cheese in between their freshly baked brioche bun.
Take the afternoon, kick back and relax in this marina-front restaurant in Sentosa Cove as you savour the fresh and sweet spread of seafood available.
