The Bakery Chef – Excellent Rainbow Cake in the Heartland of Bukit Merah Central
July 28, 2014
HAPPY HOLIDAYS PEOPLE! I am sure no one is going to have Monday blue today. So let’s celebrate by reading about the beautiful cakes from The Bakery Chef! To be honest, I won’t know about The Bakery Chef if not for a huge meeting that was held at the cafe last week (will share it once I get the details). Tucked under a HDB block in Bukit Merah, this small cozy cafe sells a variety of pastries and cakes, including cupcakes, croissants and macarons.
The pastry chef is definitely not new in the industry as seen from the quality of cakes served. We picked the Dessert Platter ($22.90) to share which offers us the choice of any three cakes, one cupcake, two macarons and one cup dessert of the day. It was my first time having rainbow cake. While I cannot make a comparison with other cafes, The Bakery Chef’s version came in a pleasant squarish sponge cakes of 6 different colours of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. The sponge cake is so soft and moist. Lightly sprinkled with passionfruit syrup, it has a balance of sweetness and tanginess. Their luscious Praline Delight is just as delicious as they are decorative and the perfect dessert for chocolate lovers. This is one bakery I will come back for if I am around the area.
