Sunday Brunch at Lime, PARKROYAL on Pickering
July 09, 2013
What’s the perfect way to while away a lazy Sunday afternoon in a relaxed and buzzy atmosphere? BRUNCH!
Situated on the street level of the iconic PARKROYAL on Pickering hotel, Lime Restaurant has launched their long-awaited Sunday Brunch, a vast International buffet with a delicious range of dishes and the option of free flow Piper Heidsieck Champagne.
The selection of seafood on ice is lovely. There’s fresh tiger prawns, maine lobsters, clams, mussels and pacific oysters. Also, there’s sushi and sashimi.
Seared tuna with apple avocado
Vine tomatoes with crab rillette
They have a very good range of salad, ranging from Peking duck salad, Waldorf salad, Potato salad, Chilean scallops, Seared tuna with apple avocado, Vine tomatoes with crab rillette, Green papaya salad, Mango salad, Thai pamelo salad, Pork salad etc.
Alongside cold cuts of delicious meats such as Homemade gravlax, Mortadella, Salami, Coppa ham and Smoked salmon, we sampled twelve types of European cheese, including Comte, Tomme de Savoie, Reblochon and Brie de Meiux, amongst others.
There’s also a bread section which has chocolate torsadea, chocolate muffin, croissants, pain au chocolat. Don’t forget to pair it with Echire salted butter, cherry, apricot, orange and raspberry reserve.
I really love the Chinese section. They just came up with Chef wok creation station where you can pick your favourite seafood adn the chef will prepare ala-minute for you. The seafood can be wok-fried using different sauces: sambal chilli, kung po sauce or ginger & spring onions.
Their Singapore Laksa is very shiok. The prawns stand out for their freshness, the gravy is full-flavoured and well balanced, with just the right level of spiciness.
I also love their hot dishes such as Signature Chicken w curry leaves, Seabass curry w okra and eggplant, Beef rendang, Grandma’s slow cooked pork belly and Lo Han Chai (assorted vegetables). I especially love the slow cooked pork belly. The aromatic fat easily melted in the mouth, perfuming and moistening the meat along the way.
The Western section is not bad too. There is a live section where the chef prepares Pan seared foie gras with passionfruit and apple compote, Eggs Norwegian with truffle hollandaise and Mushroom risotto with Jamob Iberico.
Other dishes include Ratatouille, Signature beef cheek with red wine, Signature lamb shank, Tiger prawn meuniere and Herb crusted cod with thyme sauce. The chef specially recommended me to try its beef cheek which is specially braised with red wine for at least 6 hours. The meat is packed with savory goodness.
Lime waiters will also move from table to table with freshly prepared pizzas, featuring an assortment of toppings.
Lime’s carving station offers a wide selection of roasted meats including US Prime Rib, Guinea Fowl and Rack of Lamb. We had Whole red snapper with shallot sauce, Herb crusted lamb rack, Cajun style roasted chicken, Potato gratin, Grilled US asparagus and US prime ribs with bordelaise sauce. I particularly love its lamb rack which packed a real punch and is pretty tender.
Last but not least, their most extensive dessert section which features delicious cakes such as Opera cake, Fruit flan, Black forest cake and Blueberry cheesecake. We were pleasantly surprised by its Green tea chocolate fountain with fruits and marshmellow, which is a twist from the usual chocolate fountain.
If you like small dessert in a glass, try their Passion mango mousse, Strawberry tartlets, Creme brulee, Green tea tiramisu and small items such as assorted macarons, Raspberry pate de fruit and Mango pate de fruit. Oh ya, please try their Pandan kueh lapis. It is much softer and fragrant than the factory made ones.
And, if you love ice cream, Lime has triple chocolate, lime sorbet, raspberry sorbet, vanilla bean flavour. It is a pity they don’t have waffles here. If not, it will be perfect.
Don’t forget to end your meal with Piper heidsieck champagne. With sumptuously soft sofa seating to sink into, overlooking a beautiful tree-lined walkway, Lime provides the ideal backdrop for an intimate brunch outing with a group of friends or a celebratory feast for the entire family. I hope I have enticed you enough with this post. I am personally very satisfied with the variety and quality of the food here.
