Starker Singapore – Ice-Cold Beers & Delicious Grub

Step foot into Starker, and you are whisked to a magical vineyard. Fairy lights hang from trees, while the chairs and tables are made of the prettiest wood. Not only is the interior of Starker beautiful, its exterior is equally welcoming. Thus, we chose to dine Al fresco to take advantage of the cool breeze.

We visited Starker’s Tanjong Pagar outlet, Starker Signature, and had an amazing experience there. As such, we were elated to know Starker has other outlets around Singapore, such as Starker Bistro (Zhongshan Park, Katong, HillV2), Starker Music (Zhongshan Park), Starker Q (JEM and Punggol), and one other Starker Signature (Holland Village). The different Starker Outlets serve slightly different menus – For example, Starker Signature serves more Bar snacks, while Starker Bistro serves more main courses. Thus, be sure to do a quick Google Search before heading to the different Starker outlets!

True to Starker’s promise of serving only fresh brews, Starker’s cold beer was a refreshing relief on a Monday afternoon. Beer enthusiasts will surely be amazed at the variety of fresh and natural brews at Starker’s brewery- Lager, Dunkel, Aromatic, Charcoal and Lychee beers. These beers are available at $8.90 for half-pint, $16.90 for one-pint, $63.90 for a 2L Barrel, and $148 for a 5L Barrel. While these perfect brews tasted amazing, the highlight of the day was sipping on Starker’s newest beer – Ale. Starker recently launched Ale, a full-bodied beer brewed from specially selected malts using top fermentation. This must explain its vibrant colour. Rich on the palate with mild fruity hints, the Ale had a crisp aftertaste, and was definitely an “Ale of a kind”.

Readers will be absolutely delighted to know that Starker will be having an Ale giveaway every Friday at its selected outlets. So, do look out for the upcoming Starker Ale giveaway on 2 February 2018 at Starker Signature Outlet at Tanjong Pagar Centre. Starker will be giving out a whopping 600 free half pints of Ale from 6pm onwards!

Of course, a wonderful beer from Starker should be paired with equally wonderful food. And Starker does not disappoint. A plethora of hearty food is displayed on their menu, including Seafood Platter ($31.80), Gambas Al Ajillo ($14.80), Traditional Pork knuckle ($43.80) and Muchos Nachos ($11.80).

Marinated with the Starker secret spice, the Traditional Pork Knuckle ($43.80) was a sight to behold. With a creamy mash and Starker beer sauce, this roasted perfection was a hit at our table. The salad served alongside added a burst of refreshment to the otherwise heavy dish, while the deep fried onion strings provided some pleasant sweetness.

We also enjoyed the juicy prawns in both the Gambas and Seafood platter. The prawns were fat, fresh and very well-seasoned in their respective sauces. Furthermore, with a myriad of fried items such as fish fingers, soft shell crab, prawns and sweet potato fries served with a salted egg sauce and an yin-yang (tomato-tartar) sauce, the Seafood Platter is a great dish to order if you are with a group of friends.

Other dishes such as the Teriyaki chicken pizza ($11.80 small, $16.80 large) tasted delectable and was a definite crowd-pleaser. With a cheese base, teriyaki chicken, mayonnaise and fragrant roasted sesame flavour, this pizza was a joy to eat with its thin and crispy crust.

The King Prawn Pasta ($21.80) was served with a gigantic king prawn that looked like a small lobster, while the Crispy Roasted Pork Belly ($16.80) arrived succulent and paired with sauerkraut and french mustard. On top of that, Chilli crab sauce seemed like a popular item in starker’s dishes, with the Chilli Crab Sliders ($18.80) and Chilli Crab Fries ($12.80) looking vibrant. The chilli crab sauce at Starker was indeed unique, as it leaned more towards the savoury side and less towards the sweet side.
