Singapore Prawn Noodle – Hidden Gem in Bukit Batok Industrial Park!

Tracking down hidden finds in industrial parks might be a bit of a hassle but so worth it once you actually succeed. In this case, my journey took me all the way to Bukit Batok Crescent and rewarded me with some pretty good prawn noodles. This quiet coffee shop is tucked away in WCEGA Plaza, surrounded by rows upon rows of auto repair shops. 

Apart from prawn noodles, they also sell Teochew Fishball Noodles ($4/5), Laksa ($4/5/6) and Pig’s Tail Noodle ($5/6) so if you’re working in the area and on your lunch break, come switch things up here!

The Pork Rib Prawn Noodle ($4.50/5.50) is quite the hearty dish — bursting with ingredients and flavour. The yellow noodles were coated with a savoury sauce that had a tingling spiciness which  lingered in ny mouth as I made my way through the bowl. There were also zero hints of that sharp alkaline taste from the noods, which got my immediate approval. 

The firm prawns were not the sweet type, but firm and evidently fresh. The highlight, however, was the tender pork ribs. You can tell these well-marinated ribs have been boiled for a considerable length of time to achieve that ideal texture; just watch out for the soft bones if you’re not a fan of those! 

Dig through to find a number of pork lard pieces that are delightfully crispy and fragrant. 

I also had the soup version of the Prawn Noodles ($3.50/4.50/5.50) and wow, the broth was very robust and full of umami from the prawns used to boil the stock. The al dente noodles went perfectly with the richness of the soup and came with the same fresh prawns, sliced pork, fishcake slices and pork lard pieces. The latter remained crispy in the middle and still yummy even after being soaked in the soup.  

This is definitely one hidden gem that’s worth making the trip for!
