POT Ministry Bangkok – Soups From Different Parts of Thailand
August 31, 2016
[BANGKOK, THAILAND] If hot pot is your thing or you are craving for some good hot pot in Bangkok, head to POT Ministry. Newly opened at CentralWorld, they provide four different kinds of soup base based on different regions in Thailand.
The four types of soup included Central soup (original hot pot soup), Northern soup (pork sausage soup), Isan soup (hot and spicy soup) and Southern soup (yellow curry). Meats and vegetables are paired together with the different soups.
We opted for the original hot pot soup and Isan soup to pair with Australian Beef Set (950 baht), consisting of australian beef, beef pot, beef ball, liver, stewed beef, beef tripe and vegetables. The original hot pot soup can be pork spareribs broth or aromatic beef broth made with familiar Thai spices. When cooked with the beef, you can enhance the flavours with pickled bean and dipping sauce.
I prefer the Isan soup which is spicy and tangy, served with a sweet dipping sauce. I like the freshness of each slice of beef and it is really up to you to control how cooked you wish your meat to be. Besides beef set, the seafood set is also a popular option.
On top of the hot pot items, there are other dishes in the menu like Spicy Pomelo Salad (180 baht), Rice Noodles Wrap with Crispy Pork, and Baked Smoked Crispy Pork with fried garlic on rice (250 baht). Even though the pork was a little on the tough side, the addition of fried garlic on a pot of rice brings so much aroma and fragrance.
For something more extravagant, we had the Curry Crab infused with all the Thai flavours. Most of the meats has already been removed from the shells, so you don’t really have to dirty your hands. This, when paired with the garlic rice, left us salivating.
The further menu includes baked rice with crab, Thai style lasagna lab (Thai style), Egg Noodle in Chicken Curry, fresh raw prawn in spicy fish sauce etc.
Of course, you will also be able to find the more familiar Thai food like Pad Thai with River Prawn (550 baht). A family recipe, the flavours are milder and a little sweeter. I like it that it is eggy enough, but I prefer it to be more flavourful.
After the meal, they serve a choice of complimentary desserts from shaved ice with assorted Thai dessert, Thai mung bean pudding with coconut milk ice cream, to coconut ice cream with toppings. For us, we were intrigued by the trolley of mangoes outside the shop, so we decided to order an extra mango sticky rice instead.
