P & Z Eating House – Do They Have the Best Mee Rebus in Singapore?
February 06, 2018
The sweltering heat isn’t going to stop us from trying the mee rebus that’s rumoured to be the best in Singapore. P&Z Eating House, which can be found along Geylang Road, is said to have the best mee rebus on our tiny island. If you’re lost, just walk along the road until you spot a signboard that reads “BEST MEE REBUS IN SINGAPORE”. You can’t miss it.
Looks-wise, there wasn’t anything unique or unusual about the Mee Rebus ($3.50). Expect nothing more than just a typical assembly of yellow noodles, egg, and brown gravy.
The noodles are cut up prior to serving, which makes scooping up the mee much easier. The gravy had a thick consistency that is thoroughly enjoyable. I would say that the gravy was adequately spiced, but to say that this bowl of mee rebus is the best in Singapore might be a bit of a stretch.
Besides mee rebus, other dishes such as mee siam and nasi campur are available. For $7.50, we got a portion of Nasi Campur with beef rendang, sotong sambal and omelette. You’ll find that the sotong is executed pretty well, and isn’t too chewy.
Although it wasn’t as tender as we had hoped for, the beef was well marinated with spices and coconut milk. The sambal belachan, which packs a punch, goes well with the omelette.
My verdict on the best mee rebus in Singapore? It’s not the best for me, for sure. However, you should definitely give it a try, and let us know your thoughts!
