Why We Love Nespresso’s New Vertuo Coffee Machine
September 04, 2020
“Mmmmm! The coffee’s good today” was something I murmured last week as I slowly came alive with my first sip of the morning. My colleagues nodded in agreement.
It’s hard to be a good home barista without the right tools. But with Nespresso’s new Vertuo coffee system, I can look forward to different ways of enjoying a perfect coffee – at a simple touch of a button.
The new Vertuo coffee machine might draw some curious and confused looks the first time you use it. It’s very simple to get the hang of though, and we have quickly grown to love this innovative brewing system.
Here’s the secret: the Vertuo machine uses the barcode on the capsules to identify the coffee being prepared.
At a touch of a button, the machine scans and recognises the coffee blend, automatically adjusting brewing parameters such as the amount of water, length of infusion, temperature, the speed of the rotation and the flow rate, to prepare each blend and cup size, in the most optimal way.
The Vertuo machine uses a new extraction system featuring a unique Centrifusion™ Technology which spins the capsules with up to 4,000-7,000 rotations per minute, gently rotating the coffee grounds with water and producing a full-bodied coffee with silky and generous crema. You can brew different styles of coffee with precision and ease, whilst enjoying high quality coffee even in large sized cups.
The Vertuo system offers 27 blends for 5 different cup sizes, for coffee lovers to match their coffee preference at any time of the day. From a short Espresso (40ml) or Double Espresso (80ml), a smooth Gran Lungo (150ml), an indulgent Mug (230ml) or a bigger cup of Alto (414ml) – each topped with smooth and generous crema that helps to lock in the fresh aromas of the coffee.
Coffee is a very versatile drink that can be prepared in many ways. For a richer coffee, the Intenso capsule stands out, thanks to its lingering aftertaste which retains its roasty and smoky characteristic. If you prefer a rounded coffee that is smooth and perfectly balanced, the Melozio is the one for you.
We decided to make a Rose Latte with the Melozio coffee capsule from the Vertuo Mug range. Here’s the recipe:
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Extract 230ml of Melozio into a mug with just a touch of the button on the Nespresso Vertuo Plus.
-
Add rose syrup into the milk and mix well.
-
Prepare the milk froth in the Aeroccino Milk Frother.
-
Scoop the foamed milk onto the surface of the coffee until you fill the glass.
-
Finish off with a light sprinkle of rose buds and serve.
Adding milk to Melozio opens up the softer and sweeter side of the coffee, which complements its well-balanced body and gentle aroma.
For those who like to drink their coffee with milk, you can enjoy an indulgent cup by simply pouring milk into the cup before the coffee is extracted, which Nespresso calls Reverso™. Because the coffee is extracted over the milk, the crema takes on a ‘milky’ taste. Stirring integrates the crema further, delivering a smooth and velvety beverage, without requiring a large amount of milk.
Alternatively, you can use the Nespresso Aeroccino Milk Frother to prepare hot or cold milk froth, just like we did.
The Vertuo Plus machines are now available in Singapore in 4 different colours: Vertuo Plus White, Vertuo Plus Cherry Red, Vertuo Plus Piano Black and Vertuo Plus Titan, starting at $368 and $438 for a Machine Bundle (inclusive of Aeroccino3 Milk Frother). Enjoy $30 off* when you purchase the Vertuo Plus with 50 Vertuo capsules.
The new Vertuo Machine and capsules are available online and at all Nespresso Boutiques (ION Orchard, Vivocity, Raffles City, Takashimaya, Tampines Mall (Pop Up) and Compass One (Pop Up). Visit www.nespresso.com/sg/en/vertuo-coffee-machines-range for more information.
