Natter Coffee & Gelato – Korean Sikhye Gelato & Hojicha Waffles in Tanjong Pagar
May 22, 2022
Sitting just a stone’s throw away from the likes of COTTA, Apiary, and Birds of Paradise is a new gelato shop called Natter Coffee & Gelato.
This minimalist cafe offers interesting flavours like Korean Sikhye, besides the classic Cookies and Cream and Sea Salt Vanilla.
As a lover of all things matcha and hojicha, I knew I had to get their Hojicha Waffle ($6) with two scoops of gelato. I opted for their best selling Momo Sencha and Pistachio ($11), both of which are their premium flavours. Their Momo Sencha was pleasantly refreshing, with strong notes of both green tea and peach. Neither of them overpowered each other, but complemented the other beautifully.
Their Pistachio was my favourite! It was creamy with a rich nutty taste. The chunks of pistachio nuts embedded in the scoop not only enhanced the flavour, but also added a really nice crunch.
Their Hojicha waffle, however, did not have as evident a flavour as I hoped for there to be. Although it was perfectly crisp, there was only a slight roasted green tea flavour.
One flavour that caught my eye was the Korean Sikhye ($5). This was their rendition of the traditional sweet rice beverage and I had mine on a cone ($1). With one of the ingredients used being the actual canned drink, each mouthful was light and slightly frothy.
Apart from waffles and ice cream, Natter Coffee & Gelato also boasts a variety of bakes from Drips Bakery Cafe. These pastries include Kouign-amann, Pain Au Chocolat, Apple Crumble and more.
Their iced black ($6) was pretty decent, with their coffee beans sourced from Homeground Coffee Roasters.
