Meng Kee Fried Kway Teow – Char Kway Teow With Over 40 Years of Heritage in Havelock Road Cooked Food Centre!

Char Kway Teow has long been known as Singapore’s guilty pleasure, and I, too, find myself indulging in it (maybe way too often). There’s one stall that’s making the calories packed in a plate of CKT worth it though!

Meng Kee Fried Kway Teow has been in operation for over 40 years. The stall was run by a father-daughter team for a long time, before the daughter took over the stall completely.

The stall used to be at Wei Xuan Eating House on Havelock Road, but it moved to its current location about two and a half years ago. You can expect Fried Kway Teow($3/$4/$5) and Beansprout Cockles ($5/$8/$10) here.

I had the $3 plate, and the portion was well worth it with its mountain of toppings! The kway teow was charred perfectly and had subtle hints of smokiness in each noodle strand. I loved how the crispy pork lard pieces were relatively big, and went well with the crispy lup cheong. I found that the char kway teow was less on the greasy side, and slightly more watery.

I had the $5 Beansprout Cockles and was glad that each spoonful of bean sprouts came with fresh, plump cockles. To sum it up, I was pleased with the portions.

Overall, Meng Kee Fried Kway Teow is one of the more underrated char kway teow stalls that’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!
