Jewel Cafe and Bar at Rangoon Road is the second outlet apart from their first artisanal coffee shop, Jewel Coffee. Love the industrial look with metal features suspended from the high ceilings. This two-storey cafe offers all day casual chic dining concept offers an extensive menu devoted to a selection of delicious comfort food, unique creations, original cocktails as well as its artfully crafted specialty coffee.

I have heard good reviews about this place so when Jill came to meet me for lunch, I suggested visiting Jewel. Upon entering the cafe, it is difficult to miss the three towering Kyoto dripper standing elegantly at the counter. The cafe uses only single origin coffee beans from Brazil, Ethiopia and Sumatra, and they roast their beans here. My cup of Cappuccino ($5.50) come across as slightly acidic, with distinct aroma and smooth finish.

Jewel does a range of hearty burgers and one of them is OMG! ($22). Burgers at Jewel are made with USDA beef patties, soft sesame brioche buns and served with fries and salad. I upgraded to truffle fries with additional $2. I really went ‘Oh my god!’ when it arrived on my table. It was stacked with 2 slices of crispy bacon, luncheon meat, cheddar, lettuce, onion, tomato, topped with a sunny side up! It is unique to find luncheon meat in burgers but it didn’t bring much help to enhance the flavours of the burger. The girlfriend has a plate of Heather’s Meatball Sandwich ($18) with chunky home made meatballs on baguette.

We shared a plate of Pan seared Watermelon ($10) which was drizzled with balsamico glaze and topped with basil leaves. The sweet and warm watermelon goes well with the refreshing homemade pineapple sorbet. I wished I had a bigger stomach space for more food such as their Shio-Koji Octopoke and ricotta pancakes. Nevermind, there is always next time!
