Dian Xiao Er’s Chef Showdown 2022 – Embark on an Exciting Food Journey with Outlet-Exclusive Dishes!

Dian Xiao Er has always impressed us with their elegant yet rustic cuisine, not to mention their decadent spread of nutritional and rich Chinese dishes. The month of October gives us even more to look forward to as the popular restaurant chain celebrates their 20th anniversary with exciting promotions, one of which is the Chef Showdown 2022 that will last from now till 23 December 2022!
This exciting campaign will give you the chance to take a tour around the island to all 16 of Dian Xiao Er’s outlets, where you can enjoy a feast with your loved ones in a relaxing space. Every location features a specially-created, outlet-exclusive dish that’s been crafted by all 16 different chefs using only the finest ingredients.

At the NEX outlet, you’ll get to fully savour a spicy richness like no other with their Claypot Fish Curry ($24.90). The fresh vegetables have properly soaked up every bit of goodness from the aromatic spices in the creamy curry roux. Dig in to unearth eggplant, tomatoes, cabbage and okra, to name a few.
The vegetables almost completely stole the show, but the fish tail was an absolute stunner! The tender white flesh of the fish was beautifully delicate and flaky. While it already tasted good on its own, spoon up the heady curry and polish the fish off with it; we promise you’ll love it.
Over on the west side of Singapore at Lot One, the Prawn Cheese Ball with Passionfruit Dip ($17.60) is more than just an appetiser. Battered perfectly to a tee, each morsel of sweet prawn paste was a delightful mouthful to chomp on. The moment you bite into the middle, you will be greeted by a savoury and creamy burst of cheese filling that harmoniously gels with the sweetness of the prawn.
What livens this dish up even further is the special house-made passionfruit dip that was refreshingly sweet and tangy. So good!
From the kitchens of JEM is yet another deep-fried dish that’s just as tantalising and full of surprise. The Shrimp Stuffed Eggplant Roll ($11.90) sees tender chunks of eggplant and sweet shrimp filling encapsulated in a golden-brown and crispy batter that is incredibly light. Pair it with the sweet chilli dip on the side and this is one dish that you’re going to be completely addicted to.
Head on over to Jurong Point to get your hands on their Iberico Pork Slices in Golden Broth ($16.90). The moreish golden broth has a savoury tang that’s peppered with a spice that’s similar to mala! The highlight of the dish, however, has to be the thin slices of tender, well-marbled premium Iberico pork that basically melted in our mouths.
Complementing the pork slices in the golden broth are generous helpings of enoki mushroom and black fungus which add lovely textural contrasts to the dish and soak up every bit of flavour from the tasty broth.
If you’re in the north, you have to head over to Northpoint City for the Black Garlic Steamed Fish Slices ($15.60). Brimming with nourishment and a world of flavours, the steamed fish slices were ultra-tender and yielded a delicate, clean-tasting flavour. It is further amped up with a black garlic sauce that is fully aromatic, and paired with cordyceps flower and shimeji mushrooms, elevating the dish to new heights.
Of course, you can’t come to Dian Xiao Er without ordering the signature Herbal Roasted Duck! Cherry Valley duck is marinated in a myriad of herbs and spices, and roasted meticulously to get that iconic, crispy brown skin that’s super duper indulgent. The soft but firm duck meat carried tantalising hints of herbs and is just perfect with a hearty amount of their signature herbal sauce. Nutritious and delicious at the same time, what more can you ask for?
That’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the Chef Showdown 2022! There’s a total of 16 exciting dishes at 16 different locations, so exploring some or all of them will be a real and food-filling adventure. What’s more, ordering these specialty dishes will get you started on a Diao Xiao Er stamp rally. Get a stamp for every new Chef Showdown dish, with four in each region of Singapore.
