Easy Recipes: Pressure-Cooker Bubur Pulut Hitam
June 04, 2021
Some recipes might be time-consuming but the easy number of steps (and the tasty end result!) more than make up for it. Preparing Bubur Pulut Hitam (black glutinous rice dessert soup) the old-fashioned way involves long hours of stirring when you’re cooking it on a stove. Use a pressure cooker or rice cooker instead! Not only is it still simple to put together, it also means you don’t have to constantly stand watch over it.
Ingredients
- 100 g black glutinous rice
- 2 pandan leaves knotted
- 80-100 g gula melaka (palm sugar)
- 875 ml water
- 1/2 cup coconut milk (optional)
Instructions
-
Wash the black glutinous rice.
-
Place the rice, pandan leaves, gula melaka and water into the pressure cooker.
-
Make sure it’s on high pressure and set the timer for 1 hour 15 minutes.
-
Once it’s done, wait for 10 minutes before releasing the pressure.
-
Serve it in bowls and drizzle coconut milk over the bubur pulut hitam.
This delicious treat can be enjoyed piping hot or at room temperature! Extra tips for the rice: soaking it overnight (or for at least four hours) or even grinding it up in a food processor beforehand will help speed up the process by a lot! In which case, just 15-30 minutes in the pressure cooker will do.
