The stall sells three flavours: Kentang (Potato), Sadin (Sardin), and Telur (Egg). The owners fry up a fresh batch at 3pm and there are always people waiting in line for them. The Baba Curry Puff Cafe
The Baba Curry Puff Cafe is one of the more underrated stalls I’ve come across. Despite the stall being remotely tucked away behind the main shopping street in Potong Pasir, it receives a constant stream of customers. The stall owners are an elderly couple who have been serving their curry puffs at the current location for the past eight years. The stall offers a wide variety of flavours, but their most popular ones are the Chicken Curry Puff ($1.30) and Sardine Curry Puff ($1.30)!

Wang Wang Crispy Curry Puff
Located at Old Airport Road Food Centre, Wang Wang Crispy Curry Puff was started by a former hotel chef who has been churning out his curry puffs for over 20 years. There are four different puffs available here : Crispy Curry Puff ($1.40), Crispy Sardine Puff ($1.40), Crispy Black Pepper Puff ($1.60), and Crispy Yam Paste Puff ($1.40). The curry puffs were extremely flaky and packed with ingredients. I’ll recommend the Crispy Black Pepper Puff in which the chicken chunks are lusciously coated with an intense peppery sauce.

Isha Curry Puff
Isha Curry Puff sells striking orange curry puffs that are known as Karipap. This Indian Muslim curry puff stands out among the usual brown ones with its bright orange hue. The stall is run by Encik Ismail Salim and his wife Cik Hamidah Ahmad, and has been at Circuit Road since 2017.
The stall offers a wide variety of Karipap flavours such as Sardine, Chicken, Muton, Potato, Satay, and Chilli Padi (Mutton). Interestingly, the stall has split their karipap into sizes, with the mini ones priced at $0.80, and the large ones all priced differently. The Large Potato is $1.50, Chicken and Mutton $2, Chilli Padi (Mutton) $2.30, and Satay is $2.50. The curry puff’s key selling point has to be the puff pastry which is so crispy and doughy. The stall also provides chilli sauce to drizzle over your Karipap for that extra kick.

Yang’s Epok Epok
Yang’s Epok Epok is opened by Madam Yang Hassan, who used to sell curry puffs, goreng pisang, and other dishes in the kampong with her siblings. The stall’s epok epok recipe originated from her grandmother. Madam Yang saw how well received the epok epok was and turned it into a business with her sister. While other stalls use food colouring to differentiate the puffs, the stall uses two forms of crimping. The curry potato puff is hand-crimped while the sardine puff is crimped using a fork. The puff’s outer shell is thin and crispy, shattering easily on the first bite to reveal a generous, aromatic filling within.

The Curry Puff ($1.20) is filled generously with curried potatoes, chicken and a slice of egg. Unlike other puffs, this stall’s puff pastry has a crisp yet soft texture that resembles a pie shell.

Rolina Traditional Hainanese Curry Puff
Another Michelin Bib Gourmand winner is Rolina Traditional Hainanese Curry Puff in Tanjong Pagar Food Centre. Bren Tham is the second-generation owner of the stall who took over the reins from his father, the founder, more than 10 years ago. Bren’s father had obtained the curry puff recipe from a Hainanese sailor in the late 1950s. The stall sells two traditional flavours: Curry Chicken & Egg ($1.50) and Sardine ($1.50). What’s unique about Hainanese-style curry puffs is that the skin is usually thinner to direct focus to the fillings. Both puffs were stuffed full with tender ingredients coated in a fiery rempah chilli paste.
