Beach Road Fish Head Bee Hoon – One of The Best Fish Soup Noodles in Singapore
September 15, 2019
Beach Road Fish Head Bee Hoon nabbed a spot in the Michelin Bib Gourmand 2019 list. The popular stall is no stranger to long queues, and the owners remain unfazed as they churn out bowl after bowl of fish soup. We ordered a bowl of Fried Fish Bee Hoon Soup with milk ($4.50), and a bowl of the Special Tom Yam Soup ($4.50) with rice ($0.30).
The owners wake up every day at 5 am to prepare the ingredients and they open for business at 9am. I can definitely taste their labour of love in the soup. The soup was mild, but just flavourful enough. The milk added a nice creaminess to the soup.
The thick bee hoon was so soft and silky that it just glided down my throat.
The fried fish remained crispy despite sitting in the soup for a while. The lightly battered fish was flaky, and tender on the inside.
The Special Tom Yam Soup was sour but had a tinge of sweetness. The soup, which packed a nice heat, was filled generously with ingredients. It warmed up my stomach immediately after I took a sip.
This is certainly one of, if not the best, fish soup that I’ve tried. The regular customers who queue close to half an hour each time can definitely attest to that. Beach Road Fish Head Bee Hoon most certainly deserves its spot in the Michelin Bib Gourmand 2019.
