Apartment Coffee – Artisanal Filter Coffee in Their New Home in Selegie

Previously located in Lavender, Apartment Coffee has shifted to its new home at 139 Selegie Road, just 6 minutes walk from Rochor MRT station. They have maintained their minimalist theme with the clean white walls, high ceiling, and wooden furniture.

When I arrived, the baristas greeted me with pleasant friendly smiles and showed me to a seat at the bar, where a guy was leaving. Although it was my first time being there, it gave me a sense of warmth as it was not only the baristas who were friendly, even the patrons were nice. The man who was leaving offered me his seat and said he was done with his coffee, which to me was a nice gesture, as it is not often that I experience this in Singapore.

The space was furnished with a long bar counter, some sofa seats with low coffee tables, and a long communal table in the middle. It is a cozy place to chill on a day off, but it’s also a snug place for you to sit and finish your assignments, if you don’t mind some constant background chatter. Even on a weekday afternoon, Apartment Coffee was filled with people, I wonder what it is like on a weekend!

While they are known for their filter coffees, I ordered their Costa Rica Aquaires Estate white coffee ($5.50), as I prefer having my coffees with milk. The coffee was smooth and easy to drink; it was full-bodied and had a bit of a nutty hint. The coffee was good, but the cups were definitely too small. Before you know it, you’re already done with your cup of coffee!

The baristas certainly looked skilled in their craft. From the grinding of the beans to the preparation of the filters, they do not hurry the process of their coffee making, and it was captivating to just watch the coffee drip into their pots. If you are lucky enough to get a bar seat, have a little chat with the baristas to understand their coffees better and also watch them in action.
